Terms of Service
Last Updated: May 23, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, downloading, or using Tangovila's website (tangovila.com, app.tangovila.com), mobile application ("Tangovila", "App", on the iOS App Store), or any related services (collectively, "Services"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use our Services.
When you purchase an event registration or ticket through our Services, you also agree to Section 5 of these Terms (including the default refund policy set forth there). An Organizer may communicate additional refund or event terms on the event listing or directly to Attendees; if those terms conflict with Section 5, the Organizer's communicated terms govern.
2. Definitions
In these Terms:
- "Platform" means Tangovila's websites, mobile application, and related software and services operated by Tangovila L.L.C. ("Tangovila", "we", "us", or "our").
- "Organizer" means a person or entity that uses the Platform to create, promote, and manage in-person events and sell registrations or tickets.
- "Attendee" (also "you" when purchasing or attending) means a person who registers for, purchases admission to, or attends an Event through the Platform.
- "Event" means an in-person tango gathering listed on the Platform, including festivals, marathons, encuentros, milongas, workshops, classes, and similar events.
- "Registration" or "Ticket" means a paid or free admission, pass, or registration for an Event purchased or claimed through the Platform.
- "Organizer Policies" means the rules, code of conduct, refund terms, and other conditions an Organizer communicates to Attendees for a specific Event, whether on the event listing or otherwise.
3. Services Description
Tangovila provides software and services for the global tango community through our website and iOS mobile application. Our Services include:
- Access to instructional dance videos and educational content
- Community features and user-generated content
- Subscription services for premium content access
- Event discovery, listing, and registration/ticketing for in-person Events
- Tools for Organizers to manage Events, registrations, and attendee information
- Teacher directory and educational resources
4. Platform Role and Marketplace
Tangovila provides a technology platform that helps Organizers list Events and sell Registrations. Tangovila is not the creator, organizer, owner, or seller of Events or Registrations. The contract to attend an Event is between the Attendee and the Organizer.
When you purchase a paid Registration, Tangovila acts as the Organizer's limited payment collection agent to process your payment through our third-party payment provider (Stripe). Tangovila does not control Event scheduling, venue operations, staffing, safety, or the on-site experience. Organizers are solely responsible for delivering their Events as described and in compliance with applicable laws.
We do not guarantee the accuracy of Event listings, availability of tickets, or suitability of any Event. We may remove Events or suspend Organizers that violate these Terms or applicable law.
5. Event Registrations, Refunds, and In-Person Attendance
Nature of tickets. A Registration or Ticket is a revocable license for admission to the specific Event, date, and time listed at purchase. It is not redeemable for cash. Tickets are valid only for the Event and ticket type purchased.
Registering on behalf of others. If you purchase a Registration for another person or provide attendee information for others, you represent that you have authority to provide their information and that they will be bound by these Terms and the applicable refund policy. Their registration details will be shared with the Organizer.
Refund policy. Registrations for Events are subject to the Organizer's refund rules. An Organizer may communicate additional refund terms on the event listing or directly to Attendees; if so, those terms govern instead of the default policy below. Otherwise, the following default refund policy applies:
General. All sales are generally final. Refunds and exchanges are not guaranteed except where required by applicable law or where the Organizer chooses to provide them.
Cancellation. If an Event is cancelled and not rescheduled, the Organizer may offer a refund of the ticket or registration price. Contact the Organizer for refund requests and timing.
Postponement or schedule changes. If an Event is postponed or rescheduled, your registration may remain valid for the new date. If you cannot attend the rescheduled Event, contact the Organizer promptly to ask about refund options. Any deadline for refund requests is set by the Organizer.
Fees. Tangovila service fees and payment processing fees are non-refundable to Attendees unless the Organizer chooses to refund the full amount paid at checkout.
How to request a refund. For any refund question — including eligibility, amounts, and timing — contact the event Organizer directly. Tangovila provides the registration platform and does not decide Organizer refunds.
Local law. Nothing in this refund policy limits any mandatory rights you may have under the consumer protection laws of your country or region.
Cancelled or changed Events. If an Event is cancelled, rescheduled, or materially changed, the Organizer—not Tangovila—is responsible for communicating with Attendees and handling refunds or transfers of ticket value in accordance with the applicable refund policy and applicable law.
Lost or stolen tickets. Tangovila and Organizers are not obligated to replace lost, stolen, or damaged tickets or to issue refunds for them.
Entry and conduct. Organizers may refuse entry or remove any person who violates Organizer Policies, these Terms, or applicable law, or whose conduct poses a safety risk. A ticket may be voided without refund in those circumstances. You are responsible for reviewing Organizer Policies before attending.
In-person events. Attendance at an Event involves inherent risks associated with in-person gatherings, travel, and physical activity. You attend at your own risk. Events may be photographed or recorded by Organizers or Tangovila for promotional purposes; by attending, you acknowledge that public areas of Events may be recorded, subject to the Organizer's policies and applicable law.
Refunded tickets. If you receive a refund for a Registration, you must not use that ticket to attend the Event. Use of a refunded ticket may constitute fraud.
6. Organizer Responsibilities
If you are an Organizer, you agree that you:
- Are solely responsible for your Event listings, pricing, capacity, attendee communications, and any additional refund or event terms you communicate to Attendees
- Will provide accurate, current information about your Events and deliver them as described
- Will comply with all applicable laws, regulations, permits, and venue requirements in every jurisdiction where you operate
- Are solely responsible for determining, collecting, and remitting all applicable taxes (including sales tax, VAT, and similar taxes) on ticket and registration sales
- Will handle Attendee refund requests and event-related disputes directly with Attendees
- Will respond to and resolve payment disputes and chargebacks on their Stripe connected account related to their Events
- Will use Attendee personal information received through the Platform only as permitted by law and our Privacy Policy
- Have authority to bind your organization to these Terms if registering on its behalf
Additional terms for Organizers using payment and ticketing features are set forth in our Ticketing Services Agreement, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference and governs your use of event registration and payment features in the event of any conflict with these Terms.
7. User Accounts and Registration
To access certain features of our Services, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information as necessary. You must be at least 13 years of age (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, if higher) to create an account.
8. Payments and Fees
Tangovila supports several types of payments:
- Web subscriptions: Managed through our website using Stripe and subject to Stripe's terms.
- iOS App subscriptions: Managed through Apple's App Store and subject to Apple's terms and conditions.
- Event registrations: One-time purchases processed through Stripe (including Stripe Connect where applicable). Service fees and estimated payment processing fees are displayed at checkout before you pay.
Subscription fees are charged in advance and are non-refundable except as required by law. You may cancel a subscription at any time through the respective platform's account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Event registration prices may be shown in U.S. Dollars (USD) or other supported currencies depending on the Organizer and Event. You are responsible for any currency conversion, bank, or card fees charged by your financial institution. Tangovila service fees and payment processing fees are disclosed at checkout and are non-refundable to Attendees unless the Organizer refunds the full amount paid at checkout.
We do not store your complete payment card information on our servers. Payment card data is processed by Stripe or Apple in accordance with their respective privacy and security practices.
Chargebacks and payment disputes. Event registration payments are processed through Stripe Connect. Payment disputes and chargebacks are handled through Stripe and may be charged against the Organizer's connected account. Organizers are responsible for responding to and resolving payment disputes related to their Events. Tangovila is not liable for Stripe payout delays, account holds, reserve requirements, or other actions Stripe takes on an Organizer's account.
Pricing and listing errors. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse to process any event registration order if the price, fees, or material Event information displayed at checkout was incorrect due to a typographical, technical, or other error. If we cancel an order for this reason, we will refund the amount you paid for that order.
9. Content and Intellectual Property
Our Content: All instructional videos, educational materials, and original content created by Tangovila ("Tangovila Content") are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Tangovila Content is provided for personal, non-commercial educational use only.
Music and Audio: Tangovila does not monetize or profit from content containing music, regardless of copyright status. All paid subscription content consists of music-less instructional videos created by Tangovila or properly purchased or licensed content from our teaching partners. By using our Services, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Tangovila is not responsible for any music copyright or video distribution and display issues in user-generated content or any of its free content or publicly available content found on other platforms
- You waive any claims against Tangovila regarding music copyright, licensing, or royalty disputes arising from third-party or user-generated content, to the extent permitted by law
10. Copyright Protection and Anti-Piracy Policy
Strict Prohibition of Unauthorized Distribution: Tangovila L.L.C. ("Company") expressly prohibits the distribution, sharing, reproduction, or any form of dissemination of our copyrighted lesson video content, including but not limited to explanatory portions, instructional demonstrations, music demonstrations, or any other proprietary educational materials, on any platform, whether for free distribution or commercial purposes. For any distribution outside of Tangovila's website, iOS mobile application, and Tangovila's social media platforms, one must be a teacher Tangovila has partnered with and must also have explicit written permission from Tangovila L.L.C.
Protected Content: All lesson videos, instructional content, educational materials, music demonstrations, and any content produced, created, or purchased by Tangovila L.L.C. through partnerships with teachers or other content creators (collectively, "Protected Content") are the exclusive intellectual property of Tangovila L.L.C. and are protected under United States and international copyright laws.
Zero Tolerance Policy: Any attempt to distribute, share, upload, post, stream, broadcast, or otherwise make available any Protected Content on any platform, including but not limited to social media platforms, video sharing websites, file sharing services, streaming platforms, or any other digital or physical medium, constitutes a willful violation of these Terms and applicable copyright laws.
Legal Consequences and Enforcement: Upon discovery of any unauthorized distribution or attempted distribution of Protected Content, Tangovila L.L.C. reserves the absolute right to:
- Immediately initiate legal action against the infringing party without prior notice
- Seek injunctive relief to immediately cease and desist all unauthorized distribution
- Demand the immediate removal of all Protected Content from any platform where it has been posted
- Pursue all available legal remedies under copyright law, including but not limited to statutory damages, actual damages, and attorney's fees
- Seek monetary damages equal to the total amount of profits gained by the infringing party from the unauthorized distribution, plus an additional penalty of ten (10) times the amount Tangovila L.L.C. paid to produce or acquire the specific Protected Content
- Report the infringement to relevant authorities and platform administrators for immediate content removal and account suspension
- Pursue criminal charges where applicable under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and other applicable laws
Infringer Liability: By accessing or using our Services, you acknowledge and agree that any unauthorized distribution of Protected Content is solely and entirely the fault of the infringing party. You expressly waive any defense, claim, or argument that Tangovila L.L.C. bears any responsibility for such infringement. The infringing party assumes full and complete liability for all consequences, damages, and legal actions resulting from their unauthorized use of Protected Content.
Monitoring and Detection: Tangovila L.L.C. employs advanced digital monitoring technologies and legal services to detect unauthorized distribution of our Protected Content across all platforms. We actively monitor for copyright infringement and will pursue all violators to the fullest extent of the law.
Reporting Infringement: If you become aware of any unauthorized distribution of Tangovila's Protected Content, please immediately report it to us at hello@tangovila.com. We will investigate all reports and take appropriate legal action.
No Exceptions: This policy applies to all users, including but not limited to subscribers, teachers, partners, employees, contractors, and any other individuals who have access to our Protected Content. There are no exceptions to this policy, regardless of the relationship with Tangovila L.L.C.
11. User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of content you upload or create ("User Content"), but grant Tangovila a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute your User Content in connection with our Services. You are solely responsible for your User Content and must ensure it:
- Does not infringe on any third-party rights, including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights
- Is appropriate, legal, and respectful
- Does not contain harmful, offensive, or illegal material
12. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Use our Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt our Services or servers
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from our App
- Use automated systems to access our Services without permission
- Share your account credentials with others
- Resell, transfer, or fraudulently obtain Event Registrations except as permitted by the Organizer
13. Privacy
Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and share personal information, including information related to event registrations. Please review the Privacy Policy carefully.
14. Limitation of Liability and Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tangovila and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or use, arising out of or relating to your use of our Services.
Without limiting the foregoing, Tangovila is not liable for: (a) the acts or omissions of Organizers, venues, or other third parties; (b) Event cancellation, postponement, changes, or failure to meet expectations; (c) personal injury, property damage, or other harm occurring at or in connection with an Event; (d) Organizer refund decisions or failure to issue refunds; or (e) errors in Event listings provided by Organizers.
Our Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, except as expressly stated or as required by applicable law. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
If Tangovila is found liable despite the above, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Services shall not exceed the amount of fees you paid directly to Tangovila for the transaction giving rise to the claim, except where such limitation is prohibited by law.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Tangovila, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including attorney's fees) arising from or related to:

- Payment disputes, chargebacks, or reversals on your Stripe connected account
- Your failure to comply with applicable tax, licensing, or regulatory requirements
- Your collection, use, or mishandling of Attendee personal information
16. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account and access to our Services immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use our Services will cease immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution.
17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Tangovila L.L.C. is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Services shall first be addressed by contacting us at hello@tangovila.com. If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that disputes will be resolved through binding individual arbitration rather than in court, and you waive any right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration. This arbitration provision does not apply where prohibited by law, including mandatory consumer rights in the EEA, United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions that do not permit such waivers.
18. Regional Terms
United States. If you are a consumer in the United States, the arbitration and class action waiver in Section 17 applies to the extent permitted by law.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. If you are a consumer residing in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence. You may bring claims in the courts of your country of residence where such rights apply. Our Services are used by tango communities across Europe and beyond; this includes, without limitation, users and Organizers in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and other EEA countries.
Other international users. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you are responsible for compliance with local laws. Mandatory local consumer protections apply to the extent they cannot be waived by contract.
19. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes through our Services or via email. Your continued use of our Services after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you must stop using the Services.
20. Contact Information
If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at hello@tangovila.com.
